One of the finest game strategy games on PC s are produced by Sid Meier. They make one of the most engaging civilization simulation video games around. Popular titles like Railroad Tycoon and Civilization have always continue to deliver the most heralded game play. Thus it no surprise that the company move their popular titles from the PCs genre toward PlayStation 3 platform. And a good job they did, 2K and Firaxis together manage to translate that PC experience successfully towards the Playstation 3 Platform.

In Sid Meier Civilization revolution game play, the idea is to take a civilization in the stone ages and through strategic planning built it up to the Space Age. When you choose which civilization will be your base, the leader of that civilization also have added bonus for your game play. For example if you chose Cleopatra, you might get additional interest on gold reserves, at the medieval age, population growth is increased by two additional percentages. There five difficulties level in this game. Use the first level as a guide. As you get more proficient, try the more difficulty level.

To play this video game, you can choose multiplayer mode using LAN or Single player mode. For those who had played this game under PCs, you will know the game can take several weeks to complete. But under Playstation 3, it doesn't last as long but not in the least as unsatisfying. In the Playstation 3 version. Micro managing of the game has also been removed. The graphics are good, bright, colorful and engaging with animation to the characters. The sound track are satisfying as well. Overall the transition form PCs based to the Next Gen game console like the Playstation 3 is well executed.

The controls of the game are also simple. You don't need to be a computer engineer to understand how they work. Though the game didn't have the depth of the Pcs platform, the game play in the Playstation 3 version is as satisfying and as well as entertaining.

Not Just A Game

With its excellent cinematic quality graphics it was only a matter of time before Gear for Wars would get the movie treatment.

New Line had planned on a summer of 2009 release but realistically it looks more likely to be the summer of 2010.

The "Headshot" Locust Drone comes complete with real metal COG tags, a nod to Gears of War's intrepid Delta Squad.

As with any popular game the amount of merchandise and collectible memorabillia will only increase in bith quantity and value as the game gains in popularity and with the upcoming release of the new game and and movie it seems likely that Gears of War will be with us for some time.

Bunco From Man's Gambling to Ladies Social Event

The loud roars of laughter and the smell of delicious food as you hit the door makes one wonder what could be going on. An event that is so special that it happens once month in neighborhoods all over the country. Women leave their children home with the men to get the chance for some "me" time and socialize with their neighborhood buddies. The name of this social event is called "Bunco". The game is a 100% game of chance with no skill involved. You have set of three dice at 4 separate tables. The players rotate around and get a great chance to socialize with different friends. Anyone who has ever played the game says it is best to play with at least 12 players. Most get together of bunco have a 5 dollar buy so the winner of the night can win a little money and help pay for gag prizes. Now the game itself is fun but what really drives this social event is ..well.. to be social. You get to eat food and enjoy a few adult beverages with your buddies. No one is competitive to go outplay anyone for a small cash prize and since its 100% luck even an unexperienced player can win her first night. The dictionary word for Bunco is very interesting. In general, Bunco is called a gambling game or scheme.

Many believe the game derived from the 1700-1800s in England. The game found its way to America as a gambling game. Many a man lost his weekly wages throwing those three dice in hopes of winning the big "pot" from others. This game was not played in a saloon or parlor until after the civil war in America. The Bunco gambling became so bad that during the prohibition era that police had to break up the game in gambling parlors. This pretty much quelled the game for many years.

In the 1980s, the game reemerged as a social event with suburban women in their neighborhood. Its as if tea time or poker nights with wife and husband had been replaced with Bunco. Just as easy as it was to set up card tables with cigarettes and beer to play poker. It is easier and more acceptable to have the same card tables and use dice. Cigarettes are frowned upon now and food has replaced it.

Despots Do Exist in Second Life

The despot that is known to me is a property owner and was my previous landlord, Tmos Newall who owns the "Cove" properties. The mistake I made was buying land from him with resale rights back in October 2007. I did the Resident thing by putting up my house, landscaped my yard, put in ocean life in my beach water, and life was good. The first rude run in Tmos had with me was quite by accident. I put up a security orb, he happened to come by the property, it would not let him in, and I got a message saying that he was thrown off my land. Instead of sending an instant message to me saying that I needed to add his name to my pass list on my security orb, he kept coming back and trying to crash my security system.

Now each time he did this I got a message saying he was ejected from my property. Now I was home, and in my dungeon with my Master. So here, I am being interrupted. I send him an instant message asking, "What are you doing?"

He says it is against the covenant to have a security orb up and my name is not on it. That was a shock as you and I know in Real Life no landlord has a right to come into his tenant's home without permission. I said you are interrupting my session with my Master I will add you later in the mean time leave. He said you have 24 hours to add my name to the pass list or else you are going to be kicked off the land and I will reclaim it.

That was the first inkling I had of what an absolute despot I was dealing with, it only got worse. Around the New Year, my Master began building the most awesome furniture in Second Life and we needed place for him to put his items for purchase. Now mind you, I was no longer living at Crystal Cove but had moved into my Master's castle and was living there and I was about abandon the land at Crystal Cove because the tier I was paying was getting tiresome!

I offered the land at Crystal Cove as a place to put his furniture store; after all, I was paying for it and not using it. Therefore, we tore down the beach house and my Master built on the land a beautiful store and mini mall. Before we did all that we read the covenant and I took a copy of it to be sure that I was in compliance of the rules of the sim.

As Master finished the building the mini mall, I get an instant message from Tmos Newall saying that I had to have all walls set back from the property line by four meters. As soon as I logged that night, I reply with a question, why do I have to move my wall off my property line, I will lose a massive amount of land, and will I receive a refund for not using this land? Do you know what I was told? If you are going to give me drama, I will kick you off the property, you loose your money, and anyway it is in the covenant. I immediately open the covenant and then replied no it is not in the covenant. Tmos said, "Oh, thanks for reminding me, I forgot to add it and I will, so you will either do as I have told you or else I will kick you off."

Master moved the walls off the property line by four meters. We bided our time and recently we moved off Crystal Cove and we abandoned the land and I did not bother reselling it.

The last thing I did before we abandoned the land was to take another copy of the covenant from January to May 2008 the "rule" of having to have your stuff four meters off the property line was never added. Furthermore, neighbors did not have to have their stuff four meter from their property line, they were allowed to take their stuff and put it inches from my land.

Despots do exist in Second Life, flourish, and threaten those they feel are little people. This Second Life Resident is not impressed!

A Plethora of Puzzling Puzzles

Mechanical puzzles have been around for well over two and a half thousand years, and many traditional formats have remained for a good length of time. Today, with more accurate design and manufacture, including the use of computers to design and model some of the more intriguing puzzles, there is a very wide range of puzzle types, which range from mildly intriguing to downright devastating.

Many of these puzzles are made from quality materials, such as wood or metal, which helps for a number of reasons. Firstly, the metal or wood is relatively inflexible, which means that the puzzle can't be forced, which would be the case if it were made of plastic. Secondly, being strong, if the puzzle is forced, or simply used a great deal, it is unlikely to break or snap. Thirdly, many of these puzzles are very tactile, with beautiful wooden shapes or cold smooth metal objects that weigh a fair bit. The fourth reason is that these puzzles also look very beautiful, and many are used as decorations or ornaments on desks whilst they are not being worked on. Often they are used as conversation pieces, and everyone likes to have a go at a puzzle.

There are different categories of puzzle, and these are: sequential puzzles, take apart puzzles, put together puzzles, disentanglement puzzles, dexterity puzzles and impossible puzzles. Each of these categories has a different style and challenge, and generally people have their favorite types of puzzle, or find that one particular category which seems to suit them best.

Sequential puzzles are those that require a sequence of steps or stages done in the right order to achieve success. Of course, working out the order of the different steps is the hardest thing. The most popular sequential puzzle is the Rubik's cube, although the Tower of Hanoi is another, older example.

Take apart puzzles are, as the name implies, those puzzles which come assembled, and you have to work out how to disassemble the object into its component parts. Often metal examples of this type are more common, involving nuts buried into wood that won't turn, or bolts that are hooked over a key with teeth seemingly too wide to allow it to drop off.

Put together puzzles are very similar, but in this case you are provided with a set of shapes or blocks, and you have to work out how they fit together to form a shape, often a cube.

Disentanglement puzzles are often referred to as Chinese puzzles, and usually involve two lengths of thick wire that have been bent into curvy shapes and linked together. For these puzzles, no force is needed at all, and if you only twist and manoeuvre the loops the right way, they will simply fall apart. But these can be devilishly difficult to do until you know the method, at which point they become easy.

Dexterity puzzles are those which require hours of patience to accomplish a feat, such as assembling a bolt and nut inside a bottle using nothing but a small ball positioned correctly to force the bolt up against the nut and turn it. You need a lot of time and patience to enjoy these!

The final category, impossible puzzles, are those objects constructed to look absolutely impossible, and the puzzle is to try to work out how they were created. Popular examples include things in glass bottles, such as a tennis ball, an egg or a full desk of cards.

If you haven't heard of him, he's guy that had made titles like "Rez" "Lummies" "Space channel 5" and owns "Q entertainment". He is a real innovator when it comes to music themed games or as he calls them ""music interactives" giving himself such an unique identify within the games industry. Here I've taken a quote from my favorite part of this interview:

"Eurogamer: So you feel like technology is keeping pace with what people actually want from media? Some people certainly seem to feel like technology is ahead of our desires.

Tetsuya Mizuguchi: I'd like to think that human desire is always walking ahead of technology. I hope so, anyway. I think that every product - including games, entertainment, every piece of content or media - is always designed by human desire. Whether it's invisible or visible, with shape or with no shape... Artificial products, created by human beings, are always designed by our desire and our basic instincts. If we don't feel like, "I want to do this" or "I need this" - if there's no trigger like that, then people won't bother. They'll pass it by and say, I don't care about that - this isn't what I'm interested in. It's a really simple point, but all things, all products, are like that."

He has a really interesting perspective on gaming with how technology and interactivity through technology is developed and created via our own human desire which is something I've never thought of this in this way before. I've always thought that the latest current technology inspires new ideals for gaming like "Half life 2" for an example using Havoc physics or "Quake" using internet making it one of the first FPS online multiplayer experiences. Modern technology reflects what can be created within computer games medium, but it is of course its human desire/determination for discovery that creates technology and uses this technology in different ways catering for different needs.

My previous mentality regarding games technology was brought across from game developer's attitudes to their game development process and the type of games they produce, for example say "Epic games" are known for their hard focus towards producing advanced technology/engines such as "Unreal 3 engine" for their games whereas if you look at company like "Square Enix" they focused towards making more artistically creativity titles with the art and story being their main focus. Both of these companies produce high level of visual quality to their games via though different approaches; they are two opposite ends of the same Spectrum, art on one end and tech on the other end. I always used to dislike PC gaming for their heavy use of technology and lacking methods of creativity like Japanese console developers who seem more advanced in their art skills (Now I think I was quite naive to think that).

This has got me thinking about how it's all just a balancing act between the art and technology for the creation of a game but what really makes a game beautiful is fulfillment of your desire as gamer, remember the first time you got the sword in "Zelda: Ocarina of Time" or your first online deathmatch on "Quake 3" or when you figured out how to kill Psycho Mantis in Metal Gear Solid, these are moments of fulfillment, joy and pure escapism that I will treasure in my heart. This is what I call good game designer thinking of the next thing we desire as gamers and people as it doesn't matter what approach is used for creation of the game but belong the designer allows his/her creative ideals push through into the product fulfilling people's desires. Like he says "It's a really simple point, but all things, all products, are like that".

The key to design is thinking out of the box, out of your field of expertise I believe and seems like he knows what he's talking about. Thinking about this topic has changed my thinking process towards games design as you have to think what people want next through the evolution of technology and surrounding pop culture but also have an understanding why they desire that, then you can truly capture people's hearts.

Flying down the highway as fast as possible is a dream only some of us, most likely with a consequence have experienced. Atomic Racer grants you that wish with rockets and explosions to boot, of course without the tickets.You hop in your pseudo street racer car and fly down the freeway guns blazing. Your one and only objective is to get to the nuclear transport before it reaches its destination and blow it up. Since the transports are humongous they're easy to spot on top of the fact you have an indicator for them. Just in case you're going a little too fast. The biggest and only danger is running into other cars while in the process.

Overall

Atomic Racer is very entertaining for an atomically small while. You only have one primary objective which is to blow up the nuclear transport. That's fine but you have all day to do it, as the transports don't have an actual destination and don't blow up prematurely. This can get repetitive faster than the actual game is. If the devs would have added a little more....ok a lot more, atomic racer would be a must play title. Gameplay is entirely solid just not realized to its full potential. The game itself looks ok, the explosions that happen here and there leave you with a little something but not enough. For the 30 seconds Atomic Racer leaves you entertained, I know something else I can do in the same time with a little more pay off.

Zombie Rampage is an all out gore-fest to say the least, but with a name like that these things come as no surprise. The object of the game is to shoot the horde of different types of enemies headed your way by either protecting your base in Defense Mode, or ranking up on kills in the Survival and Experimental Modes. One major difference between the modes worth noting (specifically Defense and Survival) are the amount of experience points distributed in the beginning of a game. Yeah, you read right, experience points play a huge role in this shooter, as they can be used to buy better weapons, health, and theres even a few power-ups for your little zombie killing machine. Then there is the Experiment Mode, which has you calling the shots by controlling the number of enemies that are thrown at you at a given time.

If you enjoy games with vibrant colors and diverse landscapes look elsewhere for it never changes at all, the setting in ZR is what looks like a desert with nothing but your base and zombies flooding the screen all in a bird's eye view. What the game lacks in visuals, it makes up for in sound and gameplay. You'll never get tired of hearing that gut-wrenching squash you get when you obliterate a zombie into several pieces leaving his bloody carcase to pile on the other hundreds you killed before.

Overall
A highly addictive shooter with some RPG-like elements, variety of modes, and cool weapons, what more could you ask for?

Were you the kid that put fireworks in your neighbor's mailboxes? If the answers yes, then bomb-a-bomb's the game for you! The premise of the game is very straightforward; blow everything to an oblivion. But as you progress though the games 40 stages things really get more complex and interesting. Each stage will have you essentially doing the same thing, but the way you go about doing it is what makes this title fun.You start off just lighting grey bombs ablaze with your candle shaped cursor, attempting to string together the exploding bombs in what becomes an all out fireworks show. But as more bomb types are introduced the puzzle element of the game really comes into play, as some bombs aren't meant to be blown up, while others could cause instant failure. The fun doesn't stop there, as not only are different bombs added to the equation, but also different explosive devices like timed bombs and instant bombs are added to the mix. These things change the way you play and always keep you on your toes, making what could've been a boring fireworks simulator a true puzzler.

While playing Bomb-a-bomb, I couldn't help but notice it's cute presentation, that may or may not have been loosely inspired by games like bomberman. I don't say that as a bad thing, I actually quite liked it myself but I think this is the part of the game that might not cater to everyone's liking. If your mature enough for it, this title is definitely worth a try.

Overall
Fun game, lots of levels, and never gets redundant. Sometimes a victory requires more luck then skill, art style may turn some gamers off, and some of the beginning level instructions could use a spell-check. All in all, it's a great flash game that's loads of fun.

Many gaming websites that are on the internet are all pretty much the same. On every front page they have the newest and more anticipated games that are going to be released as well as the latest news in the gaming world. I'm sure many of us are all familiar with gaming reviews, and many of us have been to some form of gaming website in the last little bit. Now here's my question, is it just me or do many of the video games reviews on every gaming site seem. . . the same?

Actually I think I like the idea of that, a video games reviews website that has actual game reviews written by actual gamers. You know, the gamers who know these games completely inside and out and can tell you everything that is totally wrong or right with the game, easily at the drop of a hat. These gamers love these games and play them all of the time, what better way to find out a certain game, then through these people? They are the ones who spend their hard earned cash on the games and use their free time to play them.

As was mentioned before, many of the reviews from all of the well known gaming sites, all seem the same and it seems to me anyway, that they are all written by the exact same people. I'm not sure about many gamers, I can only talk about myself. However when I'm interested in a video game I'm the type of person that I will go to a video gaming website and just check out the score out of 10. However once I've done that, I'll go read all of the gamers reviews about the game to find out how they feel about it, and I'll talk to my gaming friends about the game as well.

Personally I think it would be cool to have a website that has video games reviews written by the actual gamers who love the game. To me, there's no other way to find out about a game then by somebody who loves to play it in their spare time for hours. I'm not the type of person who is really interested in reading a review by somebody who may or may not be a gamer, or by somebody who has only played the game through maybe once or twice. I'd rather read it from the true gamers, who are playing each and every day. Who knows better about the games then them?

Diablo III First Look

PARIS--The Barbarian sees, and the Barbarian smashes. The Witch Doctor sees, and usually let's something else do his dirty work. The two character classes shown off during today’s announcement of Diablo III (unveiled during the opening ceremonies for the 2008 Blizzard Invitational in Paris) are a mixture of old and new, and representative of the formula the Blizzard development team seems to be aiming for with the latest installment in its blockbuster action game series.

We'll spend some time recounting our observations of both classes in a bit but, first, we should talk a bit about the trailer that introduced the world to the game for the first time. It started off with your typical dire portents of dread, backed by spooky music, and gorgeous visuals. What stood out to us was the variety in those visuals, and what they could mean for gameplay and story. First, we saw a number of different settings in the trailer--including more than one city setting. In addition, the color palette seemed to be much larger than in previous installments; we noticed a grimy, dusty looking battlefield teeming with soldiers and war machines, as well as at least one night-time landscape, backed by a huge full moon. While still maintaining that grim gothic feel to the game, it seems like the Blizzard artists are getting a full chance to explore a larger visual palette that should give the game some variety.

The same impressive look continues on to the actual gameplay. Characters were big richly detailed (especially when wearing more elaborate armor), but nicely scaled to the environments. In other words, the characters are big, but can still easily dwarfed by some of the bigger creatures in the game, as the demo proved with that massive spike-wielding demon at the end. While we thought at first that this was a boss due to its sheer bulk and the complexity of its attacks, it was later confirmed this was just a run-of-the-mill mob, the likes of which you can expect to see on a fairly regular basis. In addition to monsters of various sizes, the enemies in the game will also demonstrate a variety of behaviors. During the demo, we saw the Berserker, a large, mace-wielding monster that’s equal parts strength and bad attitude. During a post-announcement game design panel on Diablo III, we also saw the skeletal shieldbearer, a slow-moving skeleton wielding a huge shield. Often accompanying larger enemies as support, the shieldbearer will be a tough enemy to deal with, as you’ll first have to take out the monster’s shield before attacking it proper. As a result, shieldbearers will be ideal support for enemies who are strictly focused on dealing damage.

With different types of monsters on hand, it's fortunate that the character classes in Diablo III will be just as epically powerful as you remember. The Barbarian is still a melee specialist (though not without his specialized ranged attacks). The Barbarian's skills will be familiar for Diablo II fans--we saw the whirlwind in effect, sweeping through scores of enemies--but he’ll have some other tricks up his sleeves (that is, if he wore sleeves), including the sweep, which can blast multiple enemies around him. During the on-stage demo, the Barbarian managed to take down a stone wall on a group of zombies, pointing to more interactive environments throughout the gameplay. While environments won't be fully destructible, you can look forward to many instances such as this one where you can use the environment to your advantage, with a certain amount of real physics involved in the destruction.

If the Barbarian is all about wading into the fray with both weapons blazing, the newly announced Witch Doctor is all about variety. He (or she; Diablo III will let you play as a male or female version of your chosen class, but will not offer more advanced customisation options) will have more straightforward attacks like the firebomb, which drops fiery death onto the enemy, as well as more interesting attacks that seem more in keeping with the class.

The Witch Doctor will have control over disease, can summon pets, and can even control the minds of his or her enemies. We saw a few examples of these different approaches in the game demo: Locust Swarm is a spell that summons a nasty horde of flying locusts that can overwhelm an opponent. Better yet, the locusts will automatically spawn to attack additional enemies in the area. We saw one pet in use too; the mongrel. This pet can attack enemies and can be buffed with other Witch Doctor spells; during the demo, the player cast Locust Swarm on his mongrel, giving the pet an attack bonus. We also briefly saw the Horrify spell, which causes enemies to temporarily flee in terror. By far his coolest ability was the Wall of Zombie which was truly terrifying. If you've seen a wall of fire or ice in a game before, you probably have a pretty good idea of what this skill is all about.

At first glance, the Witch Doctor resembles the Necromancer from Diablo II, both in his relatively skinny appearance (at least, when compared to the Barbarian) and through the class abilities (pet summoning, disease control). When asked about it during the gameplay design seminar, Blizzard developers were quick to point out that the Witch Doctor is very much its own class, and that its presence in the game wouldn't necessarily require the removal of the Necromancer in Diablo III. In other words, it's conceivable that both classes could end up in Diablo III, even if it looks unlikely to us at this point.

Using new skills will be easier than ever in Diablo III, thanks to a new combat system and user interface that seems to put a premium on skill usage over potions. As explained during the gameplay seminar, Blizzard developers felt that potion use was too prevalent in the previous game, resulting in combat encounters that were rarely more than wars of attrition, as the user kept pounding health potions en masse. In another seminar, Jay Wilson, the lead designer, confirmed that the interface would not be customisable with mods; while this is nigh-on essential for World of Warcraft, Wilson said that it would be detrimental in Diablo III and was not on the table.

In Diablo III, potions will still play a part of the action but their importance has been downplayed thanks to a couple of changes. The first are health globes, which drop off defeated enemies and will serve to boost the health of your character and those around you if you're playing co-operatively. As the developers put it, the idea of enemies dropping health is one that will keep the player moving forward in the game, as opposed to trying to avoid combat. In addition, a new skill toolbar, similar in location to the old potion belt in Diablo II, will make your skills that much more accessible, easily allowing you to switch between skills on the fly. You’ll even be able to swap skills quickly using the roller on your mouse for even more ease of use. The result is a game you’ll likely be able to play almost completely with your mouse; no more hunting for skills using the "F" keys on your keyboard. One more important addition regarding cooperative play--when a character picks up a health globe, any surrouding allies also benefit from that health globe, which seems like it will encourage players to stick togehter when hacking and slashing their way throught the game. To our ears, it also makes it sound like practically any class will be able to tank effectively (as long as someone is picking up the health globes and standing nearby) but we'll have to see how it plays out as the game develops.

Random dungeons will still be a big part of Diablo III. In fact, randomness will prevail throughout the game (and we mean that in a good way). In addition to having randomly created dungeons to explore, the developers have also introduced random monsters, random loot droops, and new random scripted events into the game to make each playthrough a new experience. In terms of monsters and loot, the stage demo alone was proof of that concept--we saw loads of different types of beasts to fight, from snake-like monsters to hulking brutes like the final big bad beastie. Blizzard didn't go into much detail regarding loot but we do know that they are hard at work creating custom-designed armor and weapons that will look great and get the job done in the field of combat. More tie-ins with lore with higher-level drops have been promised than was the case in Diablo II, with items being one of the development teams key focuses in increasing your feeling of involvement with the story as you progress. During the demo, we saw the Barbarian decked out in a suit of golden armor with an imposing looking helmet, and wielding a pair of axes, one enchanted with frost, the other, with electricity. We also saw him wielding a fire-enchanted two-handed mace, trailing fire impressively as he spun through a crowd of skeletons.

The random scripted events sound like one of the coolest additions to the game. Each playthrough, players will encounter scenarios that are quite different from their previous trip through the game. In one area, you might see a house filled with undead enemies--along with a story about the home's former residents. The second time you play through that same area might contain a caravan that you'll be prompted to escort to safety. The next time that area might simply be filled with monsters just begging for the opportunity to be killed by you. Scripted events look to greatly increase the level of immersion into the world of Diablo III, while keeping the player coming back for more at the same time. There will also be a conversation system in the game, which will give voice to your character in the game; moreso than the handful of exclamations your character had in the previous game. We hope to learn more about the conversation system for Diablo III over the weekend and will report back with more details.

Much has yet to be settled in the development of Blizzard's latest game. The pair of character classes we know about are just two in an undetermined (or at least, unreleased) final number of classes that will be in Diablo III, though Blizzard have confirmed that not all the classes from Diablo 2 are going to make the cut. In addition, while we do know that the online cooperative play will be a huge part of the game, Blizzard hasn't settled on the final number of people that will be able to play together: 8 is the current theoretical maximum, but Blizzard made it clear that the final decision was going to be based on what was best for the player, and that this number was likely to be less than the theoretical maximum. Indeed, even the fate of "hardcore" mode is as of yet undecided, though Blizzard devs said they see no reason why it won't be in the final game, given its popularity in Diablo II. As for a secret cow level... when pressed, all Blizzard reps would say was "No comment."

On the other hand, we can confirm the game's release date; it's the same date as for all Blizzard-developed titles: "When it's ready." Until that time--however far in the future it may be--we'll be sure to bring you the latest coverage of the game, including more coverage from this weekend's 2008 Blizzard Invitational, so stay tuned.

Lego Indiana Jones Review

Lego Indiana Jones, a video game for the Playstation 2 system (versions available for other major systems, as well) is a Lego re-creation of the classic trilogy of Indiana Jones films (Raiders of the Lost Ark, Temple of Doom and The Last Crusade). That means Lego toy characters play through the plots of the three films. This Lego game is highly entertaining and quite challenging at times. It's definitely worth the buy!

Fans of Lego and fans of Indiana Jones will love this game. Kids will love it (and with only mild cartoon violence - rated E for Everyone, 10+ - it's appropriate for most age groups), and adults will enjoy it, too!

For me, the two player option is among the best aspects of this game. A second player can join in or drop out at any time, and it makes solving the game's puzzles a little easier at times to have that second player helping out.

There isn't a single thing I dislike about this game. At times the puzzles can be tough to figure out, but the game is so much fun that I can't lose my patience in figuring them out! With unlimited "lives" the game lets you try again and again until you find the right course. Each character uses a different tool or weapon, so you end up utilizing all of the available characters (over 60 of them!) at some point during the game.

When I finished playing the game, I wanted to play it again! Another great thing about this game is that there are two modes of play: Story Mode and Freeplay Mode. Once you play through the story, you have the option of going back into each level and playing with a variety of characters. More secrets are available upon the second time through, including secret, unlockable characters!

This game made me laugh out loud on several occasions! The creative re-creations of certain key scenes from the films are hilarious!

I recommend this game because it's so much fun! It is honestly one of the most fun games I've ever played. Alone or with a partner, this game provides hours of entertainment!

My husband and I are both in our late 20s, so this game is just perfect for us. We grew up on these films (and after playing Lego Star Wars, we just had to give this one a try), but we also enjoy playing these games with our nieces and nephews who can appreciate the Lego humor, too. Next on Lego's list is a Lego Batman game, available Fall 2008. You can bet I'll be playing that game, too!

On Final Fantasy VII - Crisis Core

If you're thinking about buying or downloading crisis core, spend no more time on the matter because it is worth it.

I have always been a fan of the series however I have learned to hold back my joy until I have my dirty little hands on the game and know it is a winner. While Square-Enix has released a host of terrific games, there have been some that are less than stellar to be sure.

Action:The game is certainly long enough, however it is an action RPG, so if that turns you off, it may not be the right game. The battle system was actually lacking a bit. Most of the first half of the adventure is hack and slash and the second half involved staying alive long enough to cast the powerhouse spells, pray for the right limit breaks, and fuse materia until your eyes are bleeding.

Story: Final fantasy storylines usually are fairly amazing. This one is no exception. Probobly the best feature of the game, the story got into the heavy issues of notions of god, man vs. machine, genetic modification, jealously, anger and all of the other subjects that make a person keep reading. This is bar none the best aspect of the game because it fills in many of the blanks left by the notorious Final Fantasy 7. This is enough reason alone to buy the game.

Graphics: Terrific. Enough said. I was blown away and for the first time, really saw the power of the PSP engine. You are treated to stunning summoning visuals, great in-game cutscenes and a very decorated enviornment to play in. There is a good deal of eye candy to be seen here.

Replay value: High. New game plus allows the player to go back and pick up all the goodies they missed out on. Without a strategy guide, it would be pretty easy to miss a good portion of the game and there are enough secrets to unlock that it gives the player plenty of value.

Overall, the game was very good. I give it an 8.5/10. It would be higher but for the somewhat boring and random combat system.

Star Wars-Empire at War - Epic Space and Ground Battles

If you are a fan of Real-Time Strategy games, and a Star Wars buff, then Star Wars: Empire at War is the game for you. Created by LucasArts and Petroglyph, Star Wars: Empire at War (further abbreviated as SW:EAW) allows players to fight on the ground and in the space above over forty planets in the Star Wars universe. While the main focus is on tactical control, players also get a grand overview of the galaxy from which you can control and purchase new units and buildings. Overall, SW:EAW is the best RTS of its type.

The game focuses on conflicts between the Empire and Rebel forces just before the fourth movie. Each side has its own units, although both have the same types generally. Both sides also have a campaign, which gives the player missions complete, although you can control what units to purchase and where to attack. SW:EAW's other main element is Galactic Conquest, an open campaign where the player selects which scenario (which sets the number of planets), starting money (called credits), and technology level. Tech levels are also important, unlocking new units and building types. Finally, SW:EAW is rounded off by an instant action mode, also available on multiplayer.

The greatest action and fun to be had is in the space battles. Everything a Star Wars fan could hope for and more can be found in these epic battles. Every ship present in the movies is present, from small fighters like Tie's and X-Wings to capital ships, like Imperial Star Destroyers and Mon Calamari Cruisers, the Rebellion equivalent. At least one side usually has a space station, from which upgrades and units and be purchased (units only in Instant Action), and the Empire can construct the Death Star in Galactic Conquests. Larger ships and stations have hardpoints which can be specifically attacked, so players can take down the most important systems first. Visuals and sound are magnificent and sound "realistic" to Star Wars.

Ground battles also involve many of the same qualities, but seem to be much more constrained. There is still a great variety of units, but the maps seem too small. While space battles allow lots of movement, ground battles can be slow as units traverse the battleground. The attacker must capture reinforcement points to bring in more units, and points around the battlefield can be captured and built into different turrets or support buildings. The AI won't win any awards either, mainly just coming straight at you, but the visuals are still great.

An expansion pack, Forces of Corruption, has been released since SW:EAW's launch, which adds a new faction with all new units and buildings and more planets. I would recommend picking up the dual pack of both games, since the expansion is great. I have also barely touched on the galactic overview part of the campaigns. This game is a great addition to the RTS genre and brings Star Wars into it in a good way. With a great variety and almost unlimited replayability, Star Wars and RTS fans alike should pick up this fantastic title.

Under the new Critical Finish system there will be a Soul Gauge underneath the Health Meter. It fills up when you are on the attack and decreases when you are on guard. If you empty out your opponent's Soul Gauge again, you have an opportunity to perform a Critical Finish move and kill the opponent instantly by pressing all four face buttons at the same time. PlayStation's new "AH-HA" moment, let's introduce Batman with the LEGO franchise and let's see what they will conceive.

Nine months and a case of pre-natal vitamins later, we welcome "LEGO Batman" to the world.

It's a perfect fit into the LEGO game legacy. Star Wars hit the scene with a massive SSWWOOOOSH, and it's still growing. Next came Indiana Jones, which recent reports and polls are showing very positive results. And now Batman shall take his place in these prestigious ranks.

The Batman comic books, TV. shows and movies have given the entertainment world a vast selection of characters, good and bad. With more bad than good I am afraid. Which brings on the storyline to "LEGO Batman"?

There has been a major breach in the Arkham Asylum's security system and all of its maniacally insane, super villain residents have escaped this notorious stronghold and have flooded the streets of Gotham City causing mass amounts of chaos and mayhem. Now it is up to our dynamic duo, Batman and Robin, to collect the three most dangerous madmen and put them back behind bars where they belong, The Riddler, The Penguin and The Joker. While playing "LEGO Batman" you will also meet up with favorites like Scare Crow, Harley Quinn, Killer Croc and Catwoman.

"LEGO Batman" stays true to the overall integrity of the Batman movies with an exception of one aspect. LEGO games have a strong comedic feel and as accordingly, this humor has been incorporated into "LEGO Batman".

All of the previous LEGO games have allowed you to play any and all already accomplished levels as another character other than the main character. The same holds true with "LEGO Batman". We have a little twist though. You can play the entire game as one of the bad guys with your own special objectives and missions. This makes for a new game every time you play as a new character.

You'll be equipped with all of the traditional gadgets from the Batman episodes and movies (considering that you are playing as Batman). The developers wanted to stick to all of the original aspects of Batman's history, but at the same time, make it entertaining with humor as well.
